ABOUT KHENSANE BOUTIQUE
I started Khensane Boutique back in 2015 selling accessories, bags and shoes to colleagues, friends and family.
As time went by, my customers started requesting clothes and I would add blazers and formal skirts here and there. I decided to start selling on Instagram and that was back in 2018, the rest is history.
INSPIRATION
Growing up, my grandmother used to go thrifting. When she came back I would usually pick the items that I liked for myself before she even took them to the shop. I would always select unique pieces and it never stopped. Back when I was in varsity, I also used to go thrifting a lot and it was mainly for two reasons: unique style and saving money.
WHAT THRIFTING MEANS TO ME
On a personal level, thrifting is like therapy to me because I love what I do. It is something I would do without fail or hesitation. I define it as my ‘happy place’ because it brings me a sense of joy, satisfaction and fulfilment. I find myself deeply drawn and committed to it, that I would sometimes go thrifting just to clear my head or feel motivated. Most of us do it because of sustainability but more than anything, it is a blessing to do what you love and be able to make a living out of it.
THRIFTING AND SUSTAINABILITY
Thrift shopping encourages sustainability because it keeps clothes in circulation for a longer time. It keeps them out of landfills and reduces carbon and chemical pollution caused by clothing production. It also lowers water consumption which reduces the need for constant manufacturing. However, it is a viable way to reduce, reuse and recycle.
WHO I AM AS A BUSINESS AND INDIVIDUAL
I would like to think that Khensane Boutique already represents the kind of person that I am. I sell clothes solely based on uniqueness and style which I think is what attracts people to my Instagram Page. I am what I wear, and through my posts and distribution of my pieces, it also entails my own interests in being a stylist. I really believe that thrifting is the future because you get to look and feel good on a budget.
HOW I WANT MY CUSTOMERS TO FEEL AFTER BUYING FROM KSB
Firstly, it is the customers who contribute a larger percentage to the building of my brand, so more than anything I want them to feel important by rendering them with services of good quality. I want my women to feel unique, bold, stylish and yet embody simplicity as my logo says. Allowing them to pick from a variety of diverse pieces and being able to feel confident wearing them. I want them to be able to express themselves through the clothing that they wear and it is my job to make that happen
